Northern leaders meet in Manchester next week to discuss investment in the region’s transport networks, updating the Strategic Transport Plan, and collaborative working with the rail industry

The Transport for the North Board meets at Manchester Town Hall on Wednesday 29 September at 10.45am, bringing together Northern mayors, political and business leaders to discuss transport challenges and opportunities.

The meeting – which is also being streamed live online – will see Transport for the North (TfN) Board Members consider some of the most important issues facing transport investment in the North, including:

  • The body’s Comprehensive Spending Review Submission to the Department for Transport
  • Plans to develop an updated Strategic Transport Plan for publication in 2024
  • Responding to the Williams-Shapps White Paper and how TfN seeks to work collaboratively with the Great British Railways Transition Team
  • The recruitment of the Transport for the North Board and Partnership Board Chair
  • Rail North committee update

Other items to be discussed include:

  • TfN governance, accounts and risk management
