The final phase of the brand-new council home development at Eskbank in Tanhouse, Skelmersdale was handed over to West Lancashire Borough Council this week following completion of the new homes by Tawd Valley Developments.

Landlord West Lancashire Borough Council marked the occasion with Deputy Mayor of West Lancashire, Councillor Marilyn Westley handing over the keys to Nicole and her young family, accompanied by Councillor Ian Moran, Leader of the Council.

“I’m so happy with my new home,” said Nicole. “This is a lovely family home, and I would like to thank the council for their help and support.”

Commenting on the handover Councillor Westley said: “I am really pleased with the quality of these new homes, they are modern clean and bright, and I wish Nicole and her young family along with all the other tenants of these new homes all the very best and every happiness”.

Councillor Moran commented that “the Council and Tawd Valley Developments should be really proud of this new development. It’s high-quality, energy efficient and delivered on time and budget, providing new homes that the Council and the people of the Borough desperately need. I look forward to the next scheme being delivered by TVD at Fairstead, Skelmersdale, a few weeks from now.”

The 3-bedroom house comes complete with a host of energy-saving initiatives including electric vehicle charging points and double-glazing. All thirteen new homes have been built at Eskbank, each providing good-sized living accommodation, light and spacious rooms and well apportioned gardens. Built on the site of a former nursery which had been attracting anti-social behaviour, the new affordable homes are a mix of two and three-bed properties and all have now been allocated to local families.

Tawd Valley Developments is wholly-owned by WLBC and is tasked with helping deliver new homes for local residents. It currently has five schemes underway in the Borough, which will deliver 81 new council homes. Additional schemes are at the planning stage in Skelmersdale and further afield.
