A housing developer is offering homeowners a further chance to get on the property ladder this summer – and hopes its helping hand for new and first-time buyers will encourage more young people to stay in the Skelmersdale area.
Laurus Homes, the developer of the 120-home ‘Vision’ development, is offering to pay homeowners’ mortgage (or mortgage and rent if bought through shared ownership) for a year, if a house is reserved before the end of August.
And with 36 homes available through shared ownership, homeowners can get their foot on the property ladder by buying between 25% and 75% of the home and paying monthly rent on the rest, meaning a much lower deposit is required.
The sales centre on Whalleys Road is now re-open for safe one-to-one meetings, following Government advice, with three stunning showhomes coming soon.
The developer hopes that the stunning location of the homes, close to the River Tawd and views of the rolling Lancashire countryside will attract young professionals and families to the area, which is undergoing significant regeneration, including more new homes and a revamped town centre.

There are a limited number of two, three and four-bedroom homes now available for outright purchase as well as shared ownership, and through the Government’s Help to Buy scheme.
Prices range from £68,800 (a 40% share of the full market price of £172,000 when purchased through shared ownership) for a two-bed home, up to £254,995 for a four-bed home. And with the Government’s recent announcement on stamp duty, there is none to be paid on these homes until the end of March 2021.
