Skelmersdale United 2-4 Bootle

Supporters witness a thrilling end to end encounter on Saturday, with the M58 honours going to visitors Bootle who ran out 4-2 winners in what was United’s last home game of the season.

Elliott Morris smashed home United into a 3rd minute lead before Jack McGowan put the Merseyside club in control at half time with two well taken goals.

McGowan picked up his hat trick in the 52nd minute and United “Old boy”, Andy Owens grabbed a 4th for the Bucks. Elliott Morris pulled one back very late to reach 20 goals for the season but United were well beaten on the day.

LEEK TOWN LAST GAME OF THE SEASON

United now turn their attention to the final game of the season, where they will travel to Derbyshire to face Play-off contenders Leek Town and with just the one game to go United will create a little bit of history, should they come away from the game without a draw, they will be the first in NPL History which goes back to 1968, to go a full season without a share of the spoils, should the game end in a draw then they will still have achieved the record the previous best being 2 drawn matches.

The club will be running a coach to Leek full details can be found on the supporter’s club Facebook group.
