100 UP FOR MANAGER PAUL

Skelmersdale United take to the road at Barnoldswick Town this coming Saturday, 30th October, looking for a win to keep the pressure on high flying Macclesfield.

The game will mark the 100th in charge for Skem manager Paul McNally, taking over the reins in November 2018 from Dave Powell. It was an inauspicious start with the club falling from the Northern Premier League.

“When I took over the squad three years ago they just simply weren’t at the level that they should have been” but now that he has stamped his mark on the team he can really see a “clear vision for the future of the club” having reached the FA Cup first round last season and currently 2nd in the NWCounties.

“I just knew that if we got it right, we could really go places. I mean Skem is a massive club and now we have the potential to really do something this season” he commented.

“With all the cancelations of games through Covid I had not really given the milestone a thought, I am proud of what we achieved here at Skem but the most important thing on Saturday is picking up 3 points, although it will feel a little bit special”.

Barlick are on good form of late and have jumped up to 8th in the North West Counties League, 6 points behind Skem in 2nd.
