Get online with Learn My Way (Skelmersdale) #digiskills

Monday 20th January

Every Monday from 10am during term time only

Free 6 week course at your local Library

Free help to get online and learn a number of different skills which could include, using the mouse and keyboard, searching the web safely, applying for jobs completing on-line forms, using email, finding free entertainment, follow your hobbies, using public services and your library online.

These courses uses the short Learn My Way online modules that you choose to meet your requirements with 1:1 support from library staff, Lancashire Adult Learning and volunteers. The courses are self-directed and interactive and allows people to progress at their own pace with support. You can also bring your tablet or laptop along and access this course using the Library’s free Wi-Fi. Once you have enrolled, if you have a computer at home you can access the modules in your own time.

We provide bite-size courses and one to one help. It doesn’t matter how young or old you are, it doesn’t matter if you’ve never used a computer, we can help you! There are also follow on courses you can access if you wish to.

This is a free event, but places are limited, so advance booking is essential

This is a 6 week course of 2 hour sessions. Please ensure you can attend all sessions before registering.

Installation of ILLUME artworks (Skelmersdale)

Monday 20th January

These artworks are a public exhibition and are just one element of a collaborative arts project delivered by artists from Glassball from 2017-2019.
Other artworks include; the ADF audio work in collaboration with musician Simon Tong, West Lancs College students, SHARES Pupil Parliament and residents; Alternative Futures intervention on Pimbo Industrial Estate, and New Town Reclaimed in collaboration with artist Andre Stitt and residents.

ICT Functional skills (Skelmersdale) #LancsLearning #digiskills

Tuesday 21st January

Every Tuesday 9.30 to 12, term time only.

Want to improve your computer skills? Our FREE ICT course will help you develop a range of skills for home, work or if you are looking for employment. Our courses offer the opportunity to gain a functional skills qualification from Entry Level 1 to Level 2. Week one is an taster/ assessment session where you can find out about the course and see if it’s right for you. Please call us on 0333 003 1717 if you would like to come along.

Can’t make the first session? Don’t worry- there will be lots of chances to join throughout the course. Please call us and we’ll let you know the next date.

Little Explorers – Storytime with Stay and Play (Skelmersdale)

Join us for simple stories aimed at very young children, followed by a play session with jigsaws and building blocks, plus time for mums and carers to chat.

Chair Based Exercise Beginners (Skelmersdale) #LancsLearning

Tuesday 21st January

This course is designed as a follow on from the introduction and will introduce a group exercise programme that is suitable for all levels of fitness, with exercises that can be adapted to cater for individual needs. It will be chair based and the programme is aimed at developing posture, balance, strength and mobility. The programme will help develop the confidence of the learners when performing daily activities and recreational tasks and will support learners to develop greater personal independence.

Enjoy lively sing-along songs, gentle movements and rhymes with your baby, plus meet and chat with other parents and carers. Suitable for babies up to around 18 months of age.

Sing-along songs and rhymes with movement and actions for pre-school children from around 18 months upwards. Rhyming is more than just fun, it actually helps young children make connections between sounds and words, encouraging their language development plus the actions help develop motor skills. It will keep your toddler entertained and engaged in learning!
