Skelmersdale United will face Newcastle Town at the Burscough Community Centre this coming Saturday, 8th October, with Manager Richard Brodie still looking for his first win at the helm. They came very close last week at 1874 Northwich, two goals in the final 5 minutes of the first half was a bitter pill to swallow, but a brave fightback saw debut boy 6ft 5in Max McCarthy reduce the arrears and despite having the better of the second period couldn’t find the leveller.

After the match Brodie was disappointed with the first half performance, “we were certainly not at the races for much of the half but we didn’t deserve to be two down in a game with little chances, we pressed more in the second period and overall thought we should have had a share of the spoils. It’s been a difficult start for myself but we are just short of a bit of luck, we will keep pressing for that all important win, starting on Saturday.”

United sit in 15th spot with 9 points while their opponents are two point better off and drew their last match 0-0 at Prescot Cables.

The game kicks off at 3pm, Admission £9, concessions £6 Under 16s £1.
