Skelmersdale United will be in the spotlight this weekend, starting on Friday when ITV Granada reports will be down at the JMO ahead of Saturdays Emirates FA Cup 4th Qualifier. The show goes out at 6pm Friday night, so tune in.

We also have on Friday night the Skelmersdale Academy team who will be hoping to get to the 1st Round of the FA Youth Cup, when they travel to Hyde United.

The winners of the tie will then be at Tranmere Rovers, so good luck to all the “Young Blues”.

Then, as they say in sport “The Big One” as United travel down to Stafford for the FA Cup tie, its been nearly 50 years since United have reached the First Round Proper of the FA cup and a win could pair them against the giants of Sunderland, Hull, Ipswich or Wigan Athletic, who have all played in FA Cup finals down the years.

United’s task will be made much harder, with Skem in Tier 3 lockdown Stafford have followed Government and FA guidelines and as such No United supporters will be allowed. A partisan crowd awaits United as Stafford sold out their 600 tickets within an hour of going on sale.

However United will go there full of confidence after last Saturdays 3-0 win at Runcorn Town.

LIVE STREAMING FA CUP

There is some good news for United fans who want to watch the game. The Rangers media team will be streaming the game live.

For those that want to purchase Tickets are £5.00 and can be accessed via the Stafford Rangers website or log on HERE

United manager Paul McNally has been a busy man this week, with many local radio interviews, he has said:

“We are definite underdogs, they are two divisions above us, but are not having the best of starts to the season”.

“If we can perform like we have done in previous rounds then I don’t see why we cannot progress, it will be difficult, they have some good players, however they will be under immense pressure to perform”.

“We will all be looking forward to the result on Saturday night, a win would put United and the town in the National spotlight”.
