ā€œIt’s great to be able to see people face-to-face againā€

West Lancashire County Councillors, Terry Aldridge, John Fillis and Julie Gibson have announced their Saturday morning surgeries are taking place in The Concourse Shopping Centre again. The move comes after the gradual re-opening up of face to face meetings and the relaxing of guidance on the number of people gathering in one place.

Cllr Terry Aldridge said: ā€œIt’s great to be back in the Concourse meeting residents again and listening to their concerns. Throughout the pandemic we never stopped answering enquiries but we adhered to Government guidelines. Although there were times when we couldn’t meet face to face we made sure via email and phone calls that we were there for our residents.ā€

He continued ā€œBut nothing can beat the face to face meeting with people, listening to them, building up their trust and working on their behalf to sort out their problems.ā€

Cllr Fillis added: ā€œIt’s thanks to Terry and the work that he does that we have been able to hold this surgery for a number of years and thanks to the Concourse and its management for allowing us to be here. Most people who pop along will have issues for us to deal with, but a lot of them also pop along for a chat and to say ā€œhello.ā€ It creates a real community ā€œfeelā€ with a lot of interesting and challenging conversations taking place.ā€

Cllr Gibson said: ā€œWe are all experiencing massive rises in the cost of living, energy, fuel and petrol prices and we realise people are struggling to make ends meet. We would urge anyone to pop along and have a chat with us. We can advise and signpost people to many organisations who are able to help. Don’t suffer in silence, pop along for a chat, information and advice – we look forward to seeing you.ā€

The surgeries are held every Saturday morning at the Concourse 11.00 – 12.00 in the Community Kiosk, lower level, Concourse (N.B. signposting will point out where the location is if moved).
