Information published today (12 December) shows that HMRC has made its second Cost of Living Payment to one million tax credits claimant families. The second HMRC payments total £300 million.
These payments of £324 were made between 23 and 30 November 2022.
Details of first and second Cost of Living payments made by HMRC and DWP can be found at: www.gov.uk/government/publications/cost-of-living-payment-management-information/cost-of-living-payment-management-information
The HMRC figures have reduced slightly compared with the first HMRC payment as people move from tax credits to Universal Credit and will therefore have received their second payment from DWP if they were eligible.
If tax credit-only customers believe they are eligible but have not received a £324 payment between the published payment dates, they can contact HMRC.
The UK government has announced further Cost of Living payments of up to £900 in 2023-24 for people on an eligible low income benefit, £300 for pensioner households, and £150 for people on an eligible disability benefit. The guidance will be updated when more details have been announced, including qualifying dates and payment dates.
The UK government is offering help for households. Customers should check GOV.UK to find out what cost of living support they could be eligible for.
