United at Home to Workington

The Football World Cup starts this weekend and with NO Premier or Championship leagues taking place you can get your footy fix with your local club, Skelmersdale United are at Home this coming Saturday (!9th Nov) when they will face Workington at the Burscough Community Ground.

The Cumbrians are currently 3rd in the Pitching-In NPL West table having won their last two matches in convincing fashion.

Richard Brodie the United Manager is looking forward to the encounter, “Workington are a vastly experienced side at this level, they are not third in the table for no reason, they will be strong contenders come the end of the season. We have had two results that have gone against us, Macclesfield where I thought we were unlucky not to get a point and last week against Witton Albion, we played well in parts but couldn’t find a way through a sturdy defence, 1 goal was always going to win it. We will look to build on the positives we gained at Macc. With the World Cup underway it would be a great boost to the lads if we got a few more local football followers down to cheer us on, the supporters can make a big difference”.

Don’t forget you can be in with a chance of winning £300 in the United Lotto, just pick 6 numbers from 1-19 and you could be in with a shout of a little bonus before Christmas.

With the World Cup taking centre stage, United have home games in the coming weeks.

They at Home to Kidsgrove Athletic on Saturday 3rd December and will face Leek Town on Tuesday 13th December before the Boxing Day clash with local rivals Widnes.

Sandwiched in between there is a trip to Bootle on 26th November, Glossop on the 10th December & Trafford (17th December).
