Police have made an appeal for witnesses after two aggravated burglaries in Wigan. At about 6:15am on Sunday 22nd June 2014, three men wearing balaclavas and brandishing baseball bats forced their way into an address on Hampden Place, Marsh Green. The men then assaulted the man who lives at the address with baseball bats before they left the address

Moments later the same three men broke into another address on Hampden Place and they smashed the victims’ television set with a baseball bat. The men also assaulted two men at the address with baseball bats.

One man has been arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary and bailed pending further enquiries.

One offender has been described as being around 6ft to 6ft 4in tall and another has been described as being about 5ft 6in.

Detective Constable Kath Andrews said ‘This was obviously a targeted attack intended to injure and intimidate the victims. These men used force to enter the addresses and then proceeded to use potentially lethal weapons to leave these victims with injuries.’
