First held in 1998, Women in Construction Week takes place from 5th-11th March 2023 to celebrate and promote the role of women in the construction industry.

West Lancashire College are proud to have strong women in their construction department, who both teach and learn about the craft.

Amanda Maddocks, Curriculum Manager for Construction says, “I am very passionate about the growth of females in construction roles and amongst other initiatives, I have introduced a “Females in STEM” working group for students. I am also the School Liaison Champion for promoting Construction careers and in particular, Females in STEM to local school pupils.”

The college are immensely proud to have a number of female students studying their Construction courses, which include Bricklaying, Carpentry & Joinery, Engineering and Plumbing.
