A centre that provides young people in Preston with information, advice and support is on the move.

Urban Exchange, which is run by Lancashire County Council’s Young People’s Service, provides advice to young people from the age of 12 to 20 on a wide range of issues including housing referrals, benefits, bus passes and practical help to find employment, training and apprenticeships. This service is provided for young people with disabilities up to the age of 25.

On Friday, 6 March, the centre will be closing its doors on Mount Street in Preston city centre and will reopen on Monday, March 16 in the former register office on Guild Hall Street.

Steve Rowland, who manages the Urban Exchange for the Young People’s Service, said “Our new building will also meet our specific needs. It will enable us to run group sessions and provide young people with confidential support and advice on a one-to-one basis.

“Our opening times for young people to drop in will stay the same; from 1pm to 4:30pm on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. We will also continue to run jobs fairs and other events from time to time.”
