Skelmersdale United 3-3 Morecambe

On Saturday, Skelmersdale United held Morecambe to a 3-3 draw, this despite conceding two early goals and despite the searing heat the game played at a rapid pace turned out a thriller with two triallist levelling before Morecambe took a late lead but Paul McNally will have been delighted with the way his players finished the game, twice hitting the woodwork before local lad Joe Nicholson drew the sides level right on full time.

It was a good work out for United with plenty of the new players settling in well.

The searing heat, which is set to continue, has resulted in the schedule game at Runcorn Town being switched from a Tuesday evening to a Wednesday 20th.

United continue their build up to the new NPL Season with a trip to Charnock Richard next Saturday 23rd, for the NWCounties Challenge Cup. There is a Home game against Flint Town on Saturday 30th before the season starts in earnest on Saturday 6th August with the Extra Preliminary round of the FA Cup where United have been drawn at Home to Padiham.

NPL BEGINS 13TH AUGUST

United begin their NPL season on Saturday 13th when they will be at the JMO against Trafford and the first away game comes three days later when they visit local rivals City of Liverpool.

Other dates to look out for are the August Bank Holiday Monday fixture against Prescot Cables at the JMO, a Bonfire night trip to Macclesfield and a Home fixture against Widnes on Boxing Day.
