Skelmersdale United returned to action last week, after winning promotion to the Northern Premier League, it was two of the Leagues well established clubs that visited the JMO.
First of on Saturday it was the turn of Lancaster City, with a goal in the very first minute from supporters favourite Mini Adegbenro gave United the perfect start to the new season.
Manager Paul McNally squad was a mixture of established players and youngsters who are hoping to make the grade. Lancaster who will be up with the leaders of the league above fought back and took a 3-1 lead before young substitute Edvard Servuts reduced the deficit with a fine solo goal to add respectability to the final scoreline.
On Tuesday evening a healthy crowd saw the visit of Warrington Town and the return of last season’s top goal scorer Michael Howard. Warrington who just missed out on promotion last season brought a strong squad to the JMO.
United took a first half lead through Elliott Morris, with a sublime finish in the box, again United were pegged back with the game ending in a highly entertaining draw.
McNally was pleased with the performances “The results are not that important at this stage of the season, players fitness and seeing how the youngsters fit in. Its nice to get a win but we can be pleased with the two games so far”
United’s next game will be away at Winstanley Warriors, the game kicking off at 2pm at the Little Lane ground before United welcome Morecambe to the JMO on Saturday 16th July this game kicks off at 3pm.
Before the two games, all eyes will be on the FA Cup draw, United who reached the First Round proper in 2020 will find out their opponents when the draw is made on Friday.
