Skelmersdale United face arguably their toughest league game of the season when they go to top of the league big spending Macclesfield, the club run by Robbie Savage.

The Silkmen have been a bit unstable recently and after their exit from the FA Trophy after defeat to Guiseley last week they dismissed manager Danny Whittaker, although they have appointed the man who was successful at Warrington Rylands Dave McNab.

Richard Brodie’s side will travel to Cheshire full of confidence having won three consecutive league games and knowing that victory will lift then firmly into the promotion picture. It should be quite a game.

However United lost on penalties to South Liverpool in Wednesdays Liverpool Senior Cup tie, despite taking a 3-0 lead going into half time with goals from Karl Clair, Emini Adegbenro and Matty Hamilton, the hosts fought back in the second period, helped on by a strong wind, they reduced the deficit and went through on the night thanks to their superior penalty taking skills.

Tickets are required for the Macclesfield game and those hoping to attend from Skem are advised to consult the club website, twitter account or Facebook for further information.

Skem recently brought back a hero from the past in the form of Sam Ashton, who was goalkeeper in Tommy Lawson’s Championship winning side in 2012/13. Sam has been with a few clubs since then including a spell with Macclesfield last season. He is very experienced and will bring good organisational skills to the club’s defence.

Don’t forget you can be in with a chance of winning big in the UNITED Lotto, the Jackpot stands at £1,600 and you can get your tickets from Mal or Norman at the match, all you need to do is select 6 numbers from 1-12 and you could be in with a chance of winning BIG BIG BIG.
