There is still time to enter the Lancashire Open Exhibition

There is still time to request your entry form for the prestigious Lancashire Open Exhibition at the Chapel Gallery.

You don’t have to be an artist to exhibit at the Exhibition. If you enjoy painting, drawing or taking photographs and friends and family comment on your talent, now is the time to enter.

Amateur and professional artists alike have chance to exhibit at Chapel Gallery. So even if you’ve never exhibited in an art gallery before, this is an excellent opportunity to get your work seen by the general public.

Entry forms are now available so contact the Chapel Gallery staff to request your copy. If selected, your work will be exhibited at Ormskirk’s prestigious gallery from 22 July to 6 September 2017.

This is an annual exhibition and this year marks the change of our Open Exhibition’s name from the West Lancashire Open Exhibition to the Lancashire Open Exhibition. This change reflects the fact that over the last 15 years the Open has grown in reputation and reach to not only attract artists from throughout Lancashire and across the Northwest, but to draw visitors from across the region too.

No two years are ever the same. There’s a diverse array of artworks on display and a different panel of guest judges presiding over each selection. So, even if you’ve never exhibited your work before, this is a great introduction to the process, as each Lancashire Open Exhibition includes work from most disciplines and is open to anyone to enter.

Applicants must be 18 years old or over and can submit two original pieces of artwork to be viewed by the selection panel.  All media entered will be considered, from drawing, painting, printmaking and three-dimensional work to photography, sculpture and textiles.  Submissions will be accepted on Friday 7 or Saturday 8 July between 10am and 4.30pm

The first prize is £800, with a second prize of £400 and £200 for third place.  Commendations are also awarded along with the prestigious Peoples’ Prize, voted by visitors to the gallery. This year, there is a special Prize of £150 for Student Artists. If you’re over 18 and at college or university, then you are encouraged to enter. There’s also a prize of £150 for the best three dimensional work.

Large scale two-dimensional and three-dimensional works must be submitted by photograph only. The gallery should be in receipt of these submissions by Friday 7 July. They should also include a completed entry form and a first class stamp.

Entry forms can be downloaded from www.chapelgallery.org.uk or requested by calling 01695 571328. Alternatively, pop into the gallery, in St Helens Road, Ormskirk, which is open from 10am to 4.30pm, Tuesday to Saturday.
