The start of getting back to normal with Skelmersdale U3A

This getting back to the usual way of thing has already had its up and downs. The suspension of a local WI in Bickerstaffe after 65 years was the sad event. This is only a suspension so there is always a chance that it can come back again. A sad farewell dinner is being organised and perhaps some other get togethers now and again for longstanding friends. A case of watch this space…

The highlight was Skelmersdale u3a’s Welcome Back event last week. We were so surprised to have over 50% of the membership came. We brought our own cups and mugs, and we were also socially distanced in friendship groups in the large main hall in the Ecumenical Centre. This was the start of regular meetings. The first General Meeting will take place on Thursday 16 September at 2pm in the Skelmersdale Ecumenical Centre with a short talk on ‘Workhouses in Lancashire’. No cheeky comments please! It is now often quite hard to remember this would cover the old historic pre 1974 Lancashire.

Our monthly meetings take place on every 3rd Thursday of the month and are open meeting.  Looking forward to seeing you there.
