Tell us what you think of proposals for new Leisure and Wellbeing Hubs

0

Residents in West Lancashire can still give their views on proposals to replace ageing leisure centres in Ormskirk and Skelmersdale with state-of-the-art Leisure and Wellbeing Hubs.

The Council is running a public consultation on the proposals until 2 August 2019 and wants as many people as possible to get involved. Everyone can see and comment on the plans at www.westlancshubs.co.uk.

Information and feedback forms are also available at Nye Bevan Pool and Park Pool.

Plans for the Ormskirk Leisure and Wellbeing Hub, proposed to be on Churchfields, include swimming pools, a 120 station fitness suite, dance and spinning studios, café and adventure soft play. Following construction, Coronation Park would be improved as part of a proposed masterplan with the current Park Pool site being returned to parkland following the building’s demolition.

Plans for the Skelmersdale Leisure and Wellbeing Hub include swimming pools, tenpin bowling, climbing walls, a 120 station fitness suite, dance and spinning studios, café and adventure soft play. It will replace Nye Bevan Pool and is proposed to be on Ingram next to West Lancashire College and Asda. Following construction, Nye Bevan Pool will be demolished and the site will be redeveloped as part of the wider town centre plan.

Plans for the new Hubs are an important part of the Council’s Leisure Strategy and show how the authority is ambitious for the health and wellbeing of West Lancashire residents.

Cllr Yvonne Gagen, Deputy Leader and Portfolio Holder for Leisure and Human Resources, said: “The Council is grateful to everyone who has taken part in the consultation on the Hubs which will give many more people the chance to enjoy getting fitter and healthier. We would encourage everyone to give their views before the consultation closes to give us as wide of views as possible and help make sure these new facilities are as good as they can be.”

It is currently planned that both Hub facilities will be operational in 2022.
