Over 100 boys and girls aged 4-11 were able to try their hand at various activities at the Inspired Sports Holiday Camp, held at Selwyn Jones Sports Centre over the October half-term holidays.

Over 100 children from across the borough turned out to enjoy a fabulous, fun week of activities at a sports camp during the October half-term holidays.

Held at Selwyn Jones Sports Centre by Inspired Sports, children aged 4 to 11 years old took part in a number of sports including tag rugby, badminton and dodge ball under the guidance of fully qualified coaches who seek to increase the amount of young people participating in sport.

With the camp taking place during the build-up to Halloween, participants also took part in spooky sports themed sessions, and on the final day, dressed up in Halloween costumes before being presented with a certificate and medal at an awards ceremony.

St Helens Council’s portfolio holder for leisure services, Councillor Seve Gomez-Aspron said: “It’s great to see so many children turn up and try out new sports.

“These sports camps are a fun way to keep your children active over the school holidays and will have a great impact on their health and wellbeing, for it promotes mental and physical fitness, social behaviour, and encourages team spirit and fair play.”

Inspired Sports are also organising a ‘Christmas Drop and Shop’ event for the same age group on Saturday 10 December at Selwyn Jones Sports – while the sports camp is also scheduled to return in February.
