Southport Air Show – Drones

0

Following discussions with the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) and Merseyside Police, a warning has been issued reminding people not to fly drones or small unmanned aircraft systems near Southport beach during this year’s Air Show.

It is against the law to fly them within the Air Show Restricted Airspace and anyone considering using one is asked to not bring them to the popular Southport show.

Anyone not abiding by these rules will be asked to leave the site and may be prosecuted. If one is discovered and flown, it could jeopardise the whole show.

Restrictions of Flying Regulations have been established under Article 161 of the Air Navigation Order 2009 between the following times: 11am and 6.30pm on 19 and 20 September, 2015.

During these times no aircraft is to fly below 5,000 ft amsl (above mean sea level) within the area bounded by a circle having a radius of 2.3nm (nautical miles) whose centre is at 533921N 0030117W (Southport seafront).
