Skelmersdale United welcome Colne this Saturday, 4th March to the Burscough Community Stadium, it could be said that the away fixture back in October was the catalyst for the upturn in United’s fortunes this season.

Richard Brodies first few games as Manager didn’t go as planned but a resounding win at Ramsbottom 5-3 on 15th October gave the players impetus, they travelled to the much-fancied Colne the following week and put in a terrific performance to come away with all 3 points in a 2-1 win, thanks to goals from Grogan and Callum Lees.

It was Lees on the scoresheet last week in the 1-0 win at Newcastle Town it was the third win on the bounce and the club now sit in 9th place in the Pitching In NPL West Division but more importantly just 2 points of 7th place Witton Albion.

Richard Brodie will not be underestimating Colne “they have a few young lads who caused us problems at their place, coupled with a few older heads, they are a decent team despite being below ourselves”, ” we have done very well on our travels of late and picked up 3 points in our last home game, we will be looking to follow that up with the same kind of gritty determined football that has seen us win 5 out of the last 8 games”.

United supporters can also take part in the Clubs lotto, with this week’s Jackpot standing at £300, all you have to do is select 6 numbers from 1-19 and you never know your luck.

Also, the Fans Supporting Food banks will be in attendance, so if you can help in any way it would be very much appreciated.
