Skelmersdale United season suspended

Skelmersdale United’s stop start season was again put on hold as Lancashire moved into Tier 4 of the Covid 19 lockdown measures. The North West Counties announced on Thursday that the league would be suspended until further notice.

It has come as a blow to United who were hoping to gain much needed support and momentum after their heroic FA Cup exploits. The year finished with United not having played a Home League game during the 2020-21 season and only managed 8 league games at the JMO since they returned to the town in December 2019.

With the suspension of football for the time being, the club will be producing on the club website at www.pitchero.com/clubs/skelmersdaleunited a weekly look at the events of years gone by. Its 50 years since the Famous Amateur Cup win, this and items from the club’s history will feature.

If you have any photo’s, old programmes or memories then please get in touch with kevpanther@btinternet.com. We are always on the look out for undiscovered items from the club’s past.
