Festive Wreath Making for All (Skelmersdale) #xmasfun

Monday 18th November

Join us for a free wonderful creative event for all the family starting every Monday from November 11th 2019 for 4 weeks 16.00 to 18.30. At the end of four sessions you take home a festive wreath created using fabric and decorative items that can be used year after year. Why not learn to use our digital resources to help produce more festive decorations under the guidance of library staff and library volunteers. All materials will be provided courtesy of Skelmersdale library friends group. For all ages, family-friendly.

Get online with Learn My Way (Skelmersdale) #digiskills

Monday 18th November

Every Monday from 10am during term time only

Free 6 week course at your local Library

Free help to get online and learn a number of different skills which could include, using the mouse and keyboard, searching the web safely, applying for jobs completing on-line forms, using email, finding free entertainment, follow your hobbies, using public services and your library online.

These courses uses the short Learn My Way online modules that you choose to meet your requirements with 1:1 support from library staff, Lancashire Adult Learning and volunteers. The courses are self-directed and interactive and allows people to progress at their own pace with support. You can also bring your tablet or laptop along and access this course using the Library’s free Wi-Fi. Once you have enrolled, if you have a computer at home you can access the modules in your own time.

We provide bite-size courses and one to one help. It doesn’t matter how young or old you are, it doesn’t matter if you’ve never used a computer, we can help you! There are also follow on courses you can access if you wish to.

This is a free event, but places are limited, so advance booking is essential

This is a 6 week course of 2 hour sessions. Please ensure you can attend all sessions before registering.

Installation of ILLUME artworks (Skelmersdale)

Monday 18th November

These artworks are a public exhibition and are just one element of a collaborative arts project delivered by artists from Glassball from 2017-2019.
Other artworks include; the ADF audio work in collaboration with musician Simon Tong, West Lancs College students, SHARES Pupil Parliament and residents; Alternative Futures intervention on Pimbo Industrial Estate, and New Town Reclaimed in collaboration with artist Andre Stitt and residents.

Little Explorers – Storytime with Stay and Play (Skelmersdale)

Tuesday 19th November

Join us for simple stories aimed at very young children, followed by a play session with jigsaws and building blocks, plus time for mums and carers to chat.

Art for Wellbeing

Lancashire Recovery College offer wellbeing promotion courses for the people of Lancashire.

Art for Wellbeing

These courses will encourage interaction between learners in a creative environment allowing them to feel confident, build positive self-esteem and contribute to the 5 ways of Wellbeing as well as developing artistic skills.

We may look at areas such as Drawing and Painting, Portraiture, Watercolour Painting or Introduction to Art History

FAQs

Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?

All of our courses are available to anyone over 18, please get in touch with us if you would like to attend courses and you are younger than 18, we may have other opportunities available in the near future. You will not be required to bring any ID documents.

What can I bring into the event?

You don’t need to bring anything to the session, course materials, if needed, will be given to all participants, however you may find it useful to bring something to make extra notes in. Bringing a pen or pencil is always a good idea!

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

No, we will just ask for your name when you arrive, and ask you to complete an enrolment.

If you have enrolled on a Recovery College course before you can just pop your name and email address on the form and we will do the rest. However as we are working in partnership with other organisations who offer the courses freely they may require you to complete some paperwork for them as well.

Is it ok if the name on my ticket or registration doesn’t match the person who attends?

Please let us know if you change the person who is attending, this helps us to manage attendance and to report on activity, it also supports us to understand your progression route so we can support a whole process for you.

If you need to cancel your booking please let us know this as well as we will then be able to offer your space to someone else.

If you are completing a sign up for someone else, such as a person you are working with, please make sure to put their name and their email address, so they will get the reminder email 48 hours before!

 

Baby Bounce and Rhyme (Skelmersdale)

Skelmersdale Library every Friday from 10.45am – Term time only

Enjoy lively sing-along songs, gentle movements and rhymes with your baby, plus meet and chat with other parents and carers. Suitable for babies up to around 18 months of age.

Sing-along songs and rhymes with movement and actions for pre-school children from around 18 months upwards. Rhyming is more than just fun, it actually helps young children make connections between sounds and words, encouraging their language development plus the actions help develop motor skills. It will keep your toddler entertained and engaged in learning!

Quiet Hour (Skelmersdale)

Saturday 23rd November

We are pleased to welcome you to come along and enjoy a quiet hour in a calm environment while we make your visit as comfortable as possible. Browse the books, sit and read a story, or use our Public Computers and free WiFi as normal – with a little less noise than usual. During this time there will be no events planned, we will be muting our staff computers and dimming the lights slightly.
