Get online with Learn My Way (Skelmersdale) #digiskills

Monday, 10 December 2018 from 10:00 – 12:00 at Skelmersdale Library every week

Free 6 week course at your local Library

Free help to get online and learn a number of different skills which could include, using the mouse and keyboard, searching the web safely, applying for jobs completing on-line forms, using email, finding free entertainment, follow your hobbies, using public services and your library online.

These courses uses the short Learn My Way online modules that you choose to meet your requirements with 1:1 support from library staff, Lancashire Adult Learning and volunteers. The courses are self-directed and interactive and allows people to progress at their own pace with support.  You can also bring your tablet or laptop along and access this course using the Library’s free Wi-Fi.  Once you have enrolled, if you have a computer at home you can access the modules in your own time.

We provide bite-size courses and one to one help. It doesn’t matter how young or old you are, it doesn’t matter if you’ve never used a computer, we can help you! There are also follow on courses you can access if you wish to.

This is a free event, but places are limited, so advance booking is essential

This is a 6 week course of 2 hour sessions. Please ensure you can attend all sessions before registering.

Sharing Stories with Stay and Play (Skelmersdale)

Tuesday, 11 December 2018 from 10:00 – 11:00

Come along for a thirty minute storytime for pre-school children and carers sharing the fun and learning through wonderful stories. Followed by ‘stay and play’ activities including big blocks, jigsaws and parachute rhyming songs.

All pre-school children and carers welcome.

The Bookhouse Games Café is an exciting new event for people who want to unwind and play a variety of board games in a relaxed and friendly environment. We offer a whole range of different board games that anyone can wander in and play, with our recommendations if you don’t know what you want to do. Whether you’re a board game expert or just looking for a laugh, come in and try your hand at a new game!

Want to improve your computer skills? Our FREE ICT course will help you develop a range of skills for home, work or if you are looking for employment. Our courses offer the opportunity to gain a functional skills qualification from Entry Level 1 to Level 2. Week one is a taster/ assessment session where you can find out about the course and see if it’s right for you. Please call us on 0333 003 1717 if you would like to come along.

Can’t make the first session? Don’t worry- there will be lots of chances to join throughout the course. Please call us and we’ll let you know the next date.

Toddler Rhyme Time (Skelmersdale)

Friday, 14 December 2018 from 10:00 – 10:30 at Skelmersdale Library every week – term time only

Sing-along songs and rhymes with movement and actions for pre-school children from around 18 months upwards. Rhyming is more than just fun, it actually helps young children make connections between sounds and words, encouraging their language development plus the actions help develop motor skills. It will keep your toddler entertained and engaged in learning!
