Summer is here and the new subscription year for West Lancashire Borough Council’s chargeable Garden Waste Collection Service began on 3 June 2019.
People who have used the service previously and new customers can sign up and pay for the subscription year 2019/20 via the website at www.westlancs.gov.uk/gardenwaste.
The cost of the service remains the same this subscription year, which runs until 31 May 2020, and further information including prices for additional bins is available online.
Residents who do have a brown bin and sign up are being asked to put their house number in the white square on the front of their bin. This is so it can be clearly identified and their subscription validated by the collection staff using the data on board the vehicle.
Councillor Kev Wilkie, Portfolio Holder for Street Scene, said: “Many of us will be busy in the garden over the coming months. As well as enjoying the benefits of the service, residents who sign up and pay can also help minimise the amount of waste going to landfill and contribute towards protecting the environment.”
Residents who are unable to sign up online with a payment card may wish to ask a family member to help or they can contact Customer Services to seek further advice and assistance on how to make a payment.
Those who decide not to use the service will be able to dispose of garden waste at household waste recycling centres, or compost it.
