Respite service scaled back due to health situation

Our short break service provides short stay care for young people with physical, medical and severe learning difficulties, which enables children to remain with their families by providing some respite for families from their challenging caring role.

As the nature of short break care carries a high risk of transmission between children and care staff, and many families have also been choosing to self-isolate, we have scaled back the service to focus support for families who would otherwise be at serious risk of family breakdown.

Due to the ongoing and significant concerns surrounding COVID-19, social distancing and shielding guidance we have also made the difficult decision to postpone the usual range of Lancashire Break Time activities at weekends, evenings and over the Easter Holidays. This is to support the efforts to minimise the spread of the COVID-19 virus and keep children, young people, their families and Lancashire Break Time staff safe and well.

This decision will be reviewed in line with national and local guidance, once the restrictions are relaxed then Lancashire Break Time activities will be set up again as soon as possible.
