Raising money in a ‘Bald’ way

A member of staff from Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust has raised money in a special way for Macmillian Cancer Support Charity.

Angela Caunce, 48, from Norley Hall, Wigan, works as a Domestic Assistant, based at Wigan’s Royal Albert Edward Infirmary, and on Saturday 28th September, she took part in a ‘Brave the Shave’ event.

The event was held at The Mount, Orrell, where Angela was brave enough to let someone shave her head in a bid to raise funds.

This isn’t Angela’s first time; she has taken part in the ‘Brave the shave’ event before in Blackpool.

“It was just an on the spot kind of the thing,” said Angela, “my family were quite shocked as I hadn’t prepared them for it”.

This time around with her family and close friend’s support, Angela raised over £400.

“Macmillan is a charity close to my heart as a friend of mine was treated at Wigan’s Cancer Care Centre and was cared for there before she died just over two years ago,” adds Angela.

“As it was Macmillan week, I thought I would do something for them and raise money in a daring way in memory of my friend.”
