As November is Lung Cancer Awareness Month, members of Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust staff organised a stand at Wigan’s Grande Arcade

This allowed the team to inform members of the public, that recognising symptoms early gives you the best chance of surviving for five years or more by 73 per cent. (CRUK)

Around 20 per cent of people in the U.K can’t name any lung cancer symptoms and 41 per cent of people, globally, are unable to name a single lung cancer symptom.

Venencia Sibanda, Macmillan Lead Lung Cancer Specialist Nurse said; “It is nice to be able to highlight lung cancer to the general public and to share our knowledge about how to spot the symptoms of the disease early.”

People throughout Wigan shared their stories and helped to raise money by purchasing wrist bands and badges.

“It is good to be able to promote it” said Macmillan Cancer Support Worker, Georgia Molyneaux who, along with Jessica Rankin, were also available to provide help and support.
