A Senior Pharmacist Dispenser from Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust, will take on the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge later this year.
Emma Clark, 28, from Appley Bridge, Wigan, has been given the opportunity to walk the ‘Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge’ in July after her fiancé, Nick first took up the challenge.
Nick, who works as a Content Manager at Wigan Athletic Football Club, was first approached by the charity, ‘Mind’ to complete the challenge and he suggested to Emma she join him and together they have started fundraising.
The couple frequently go on walks together in their spare time, travelling to local destinations such as the Lake District and around Wigan’s walkways.
The Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge, a 24 mile hike including a 5,200ft ascent, takes on three mountains in the Pennine range and encircles the head of the valley of the River Ribble, in the Yorkshire Dales National Park.
After joining the Trust back in October 2019, Emma wanted to raise as much awareness for mental health as possible after suffering from her own mental health challenges.
Emma said: “I want to show that it is possible to overcome anything.
“I am doing this walk to raise awareness to anyone that is struggling with their mental health and talk about it. It really does help.”
After meeting in 2009, this is the couple’s first official big hike together. They are both hoping to raise £900 between them.
