Pest control service

There’s no need to be bugged by pests during the warm summer weather as West Lancashire Borough Council’s pest control service can take care of them.

The number of wasp treatments carried out by the Council in 2014 was more than double than the previous year, and 2015 is already looking to be another busy year, as the number of bee complaints received by the Council to date is greater than the whole of 2014. So while most of us will be enjoying the summer sun, many homes and businesses may experience problems with crawling and flying insects, particularly wasps, flies, bees and ants.

Whilst the presence of pests can be distressing, the Council offers a very effective service to solve the problem quickly and cheaply. Our friendly, trained and experienced technicians will visit by appointment and assess the full extent of the insect problem. Using only those methods specifically suited to control the insect pest species concerned, we aim to successfully treat nuisance insect pest problems in only one visit, therefore causing minimum disruption. This includes the relocation of bees, where our technicians are able to do so.

With the Council’s online booking service for homes and businesses, it’s easier than ever to rid your property of unwanted pests.

Online booking is available at www.westlancs.gov.uk/pestcontrol 24 hours a day. Or you can call 01695 577177 between 8.30am and 5.30pm.

Councillor Kevin Wright, portfolio holder for Health, said: “A warm summer will be great for most of us, but this can mean unwanted pests visit our homes and businesses. If you are having problems then contact our pest control team and they will be happy to assist you.”

A residential treatment costs £41.21. If two or more species require treatment at the same time, an additional charge of £12 per species is made. If two or more wasp nests require treatment at the same time, then an additional charge of £12 per nest is also made.

For commercial customers, we offer effective treatments for the majority of pest species. Competitive rates are available for one-off treatments or routine service contracts can provide sustained and cost effective pest control.
