Thousands of people made their way to Chorley on Saturday to get a taste of Chorley’s fine local cuisine at the popular A Taste of Chorley event.

Chorley Council hosted the event on Saturday 9 June which saw market traders and local businesses set up stalls around the Covered Market area in Chorley with a great offering of food and drink.

The event, which is in its second year, showcased Chorley’s local food and drink culture, gave cooking tips and provided healthy eating advice.

Councillor Alistair Bradley, Leader of Chorley Council said: “Our fantastic food event, A Taste of Chorley, was a great success this year and it has really taken off and become popular amongst the public.

“This is one of our newer events and it celebrates the local food and drink culture whilst encouraging people to eat healthy.

“A lot of fun was had by all and people enjoyed the tasters that were on offer and learnt a lot from the tips that were given at cooking demonstrations.

“The event offered a unique day out for families and friends and we’re glad that so many people decided to come along.”

On the day, there was a wide range of food activities on offer including; taste testing, cooking demonstrations, healthy eating advice, a hot pot trail that the public could judge on and a Chorley Cake competition that members of the public entered.

Local professional chefs gave their time to be at the event and provide the public with cooking demonstrations and advice which made it really interesting for those that visited.

5 Chorley businesses participated in the Hot Pot Trail – Bees Country Kitchen, Big Lamp Chippy, Inglewood Boutique, Massa’s Dessert CafĂ© Bar and Rosie Posies. The winner of this was Rosie Posies.

There were several entries for the Chorley Cake competition and there were winners in each of the three categories which are;

* Professional bakers – Lucy Harper
* 16 or over adult bakers – Mary Yates
* Under 16 junior bakers – Rosie Price
