  • Lights Switch On will be on 21 November
  • Free family entertainment between noon and 6pm including Titan the Robot and Mr Stix
  • Fairground rides, market stalls and tasty treats for visitors

Ormskirk will be ‘all a-glow’ on Sunday 21 November when the Christmas Lights Switch On takes place in the historic town centre.

The much-anticipated event will see Ormskirk come alive with fun and free family entertainment including the incredible Titan the Robot, much-loved children’s entertainer Mr Stix. There will also be fun-filled rides from the famous Silcock’s fairground family. The event starts at 12 noon with the Christmas lights being officially switched on at 5pm by the Mayor of West Lancashire, Councillor Gordon Johnson.

As we navigate our way out of the pandemic, the Christmas Lights Switch On will this year be a scaled down event in comparison to previous years, ensuring there is sufficient space for the public to comfortably access the town centre streets.

Councillor Gaynar Owen, Portfolio Holder for Planning, said: “I’m really looking forward to the light switch on this year. We have been through such dark times in the last 18 months and this year will hopefully feel nearer to previous festive seasons when the event was a great chance to get together with family and friends and enjoy the festive spirit while supporting our fantastic local businesses.”

“We are also delighted that along with our Countryside Rangers, will be supporting the Friends of Tawd Valley Christmas event in Skelmersdale and we’re looking forward to the festive celebrations in the new Skelmersdale town centre development next year, so lots to be positive about and look forward to.”

A selection of market stalls will also be in the town centre for shoppers to browse, as well as some fantastic street food on offer for those who fancy a foodie treat. And visitors will also be able to pick up presents for loved ones in the many fantastic shops that line the streets of the town centre.

If you are trader/retailer interested in having a stall at the event, please contact carparkingandmarkets@westlancs.gov.uk for more details.
