The Lancashire Family Hubs Network, which aims to give children, young people and families information, advice and support, is launching in Lancashire this week.
Lancashire County Council is opening Family Hubs across the county to help children, young people and families link into a variety of services offered by the county council and partnering organisations.
Open to everyone, these innovative hubs will offer support from the NHS, schools, police and the voluntary, charitable and faith sectors on a range of needs, from midwifery and mental health to groups for expectant parents and support for young people. Services are open to children and young people from birth to 19, or 25 for children with special needs and disabilities, as well as parents, carers and the wider family.
Family Hubs in Preston and Fylde open their doors at 10am on Monday, September 25, with additional hub openings and events planned throughout the week across the county.
County Councillor Michael Green, cabinet member for Health and Wellbeing, said: “We are delighted that our Family Hubs are opening to provide essential, one stop shops for children, young people and families to access support from ourselves and our partners, like the NHS, schools, police and charities.
“This means that they can access local services and be signposted for further help if they need it elsewhere. Family Hubs are a network, open to everyone, and there will always be a friendly face to provide advice, information and support.”
Katherine Ashworth, Lancashire County Council’s head of service early help, said: “Family Hubs are an essential place where our children, young people and families can access a variety of services and support in one place. The intention is to prevent repetition and provide wrap around assistance in a location convenient and familiar to our families.
“Our opening week will see day-long events in all districts of Lancashire, so I would encourage people to drop in and see what services are available and enjoy a range of family friendly activities, from arts and crafts to sports and dance. So pop along and find out what is on offer at your local hub this week.”
