Your chance to learn about plants growing in West Lancashire parks

0

Find out more about exciting things growing in local park and countryside areas at events organised by West Lancashire Borough Council’s Parks and Countryside Ranger Service.

Local expert in fungi and foraging David Winnard and a Ranger will lead a Fungal Foray around Hunters Hill on Saturday 17 September. They will search for amazing species of fungi and plants on a walk around this lovely area. They will be hunting for some wild edibles around as well as looking out for the things to avoid! People taking part should meet in the Hunters Hill Car park at 1.50pm for a 2pm start.

Another Fungal Foray event takes place at Coronation Park, Ormskirk, on Saturday 1 October. Please meet at the park’s bowling pavilion at 1.50pm for a 2pm start.

Councillor Yvonne Gagen, portfolio holder for Leisure, said: “These fun events sound like a great way to find out more about how Mother Nature works in our local parks, so come along and join in the fun.”

Please wear suitable footwear and clothing for the weather, ground conditions and activity at all parks events. Children under 16 need to be accompanied by an adult.
