Winter bird watch walk with Rangers at Taylor Park

0

St Helens Council’s Ranger Service is inviting residents on a bird watching walk in Taylor Park.

Join the Rangers for a relaxed stroll around the park as Rangers describe the various winter birds present along the way.

These will likely include among many others the Great Crested Grebe, Kingfisher, Nuthatch, Pochard and with a little luck, Wigeon (male Wigeon photographed by Dave Owen). Wigeon is a species of duck native to Siberia, Iceland and Scandinavia that spends the winter months at a few sites in the UK. Rangers say that a small flock of the birds returns regularly to Taylor Park lake at this time of year.

Meet at the Grosvenor Road car park, WA10 3HX, at 9:30am on Sunday 5 February.

Residents are encouraged to bring binoculars, something to eat and drink, and stout footwear and waterproofs.

Rangers kindly request that dogs are left at home for this event. For more information, call the Rangers on 01744 677 772.
