Chorley’s fifth annual word festival was a huge success on Saturday, 28 April, which saw hundreds of families join in with the fun across 9 town centre locations.

What’s Your Story, Chorley? was bigger and better than ever this year with more than 50 performances in 9 venues across the town centre.

Over 1000 people of all ages visited the venues and enjoyed the day which celebrated the wonderful world of words and was organised by Chorley Council and The Creative Network – the organisations behind the Chorley Live music event.

Rebecca Huddleston, Director of Policy and Governance at Chorley Council said: “What’s Your Story, Chorley? was once again a huge success and it was great to see families enjoying a day out in the town centre for the event.

“The festival of words celebrated literature in the form of story-telling, poetry, writing, reading and more which brought people from across the borough together and created an amazing atmosphere.

“Families also enjoyed the book bench trail, which included 12 brightly coloured benches across the town centre that were decorated from schools across the borough. Plus, children also enjoyed decorating the two blank benches that were placed in the town centre for the event, which now look great.

“There was a great atmosphere in the town centre on Saturday and we can’t wait to see how successful our other events will be this year.”

The organisers would like to thank all the venues, which included Chorley Library, St Laurence’s Church, Chorley Little Theatre, Royal Bank of Scotland, The Buttonhole, Home-Start, Ebb and Flo, Goodies Coffee Shop, Rosie Posies and St Marys Parish Hall for being part of What’s your story, Chorley? 2018.

The Faculty of Education (Primary Education) at Edge Hill University and local schools created the book bench trail around the town centre which added a splash of colour to the event.
