Ward boundary review

You still have the chance to have your say in a consultation into a proposal to reduce the number of Elected Members in Knowsley.

A review is being carried out into plans put forward by Knowsley Council to reduce the number of Councillors from 63 to 45 and the number of electoral wards from 21 to 15.

The independent Local Government Boundary Commission for England (LGBCE) has published its recommendations for Knowsley and is inviting comments until Monday 6 April.

Knowsley Council supports the LGBCE recommendations and believes they would benefit the organisation and the borough as a whole by:

  • Generating significant financial savings for the Council;
  • Ensuring that each Councillor represents approximately the same number of voters;
  • Making sure the pattern of wards reflects the interests and identities of local communities; and,
  • Promoting effective local government.

The LGBCE will publish its final recommendations at the end of June. If taken forward, the changes would come into effect from the 2016 local elections.

For more information on the recommendations and to submit your views, please visit the LGBCE website.
