Views on the DEC – Derby Ward, Ormskirk Polling District Review

0

Voters living in Polling District DEC of Derby Ward, Ormskirk, can have their say on the next stage of an important local review.

West Lancashire Borough Council is carrying out a review of the DEC Polling District, within the Derby Ward, to ensure electors are able to vote conveniently and efficiently. The review is not looking at the Polling District boundary, but is looking at the locations of Polling Places and Stations within DEC.

A consultation was carried out last month, when people were able to give their views regarding the current location of the Polling Place and two Polling Stations at Ormskirk Community Centre, St Helens Road, Ormskirk. They were also invited to suggest possible new locations.

Now a consultation is being carried out on the Council’s initial proposals to split Polling District DEC into two Polling Districts. Polling District DEC2 would cover Edge Hill University. The Polling Place would be the campus and ‘The Hub’ within the campus would be the Polling Station. Polling District DEC1 would cover the rest of the Polling District and have the Polling Place and one Polling Station at Ormskirk Community Centre.

Voters living within the current DEC Polling District in Derby Ward may make representations regarding the proposals. Anyone who suggests changes should, if possible give alternative locations that may be used as Polling Places or Polling Stations.

Gill Rowe, Returning Officer, said: “We would appreciate comments from anyone living in Polling District DEC, as making sure Polling Places and Polling Stations are in the best possible locations is very important.”

Information on the current and proposed arrangements for the DEC Polling District can be viewed on the noticeboards on the outside of the Council Offices at 52 Derby Street, Ormskirk, or by visiting www.westlancs.gov.uk/elections.

Representations should be sent to Thomas Lynan, Electoral and Administration Services Manager, either by email to thomas.lynan@westlancs.gov.uk or in writing to Thomas Lynan, West Lancashire Borough Council offices, 52 Derby Street, Ormskirk L39 2DF. Representations should arrive no later than Tuesday 5 January 2016.
