A fashion expert whose modelling career included hosting at a party for Hollywood star George Clooney will transform a St Helens shopping centre into a giant catwalk.

Top models will be showcasing the very latest trends and styles at Fashion on the Move, a series of free fashion and dance shows at Church Square Shopping Centre on Saturday, April 30 from 11am to 3pm.

The event is being hosted by Sally Mansell, who has worked alongside Hollywood A-listers such as George Clooney and Mark Wahlberg, modelled for London designer Caroline Charles, launched cars with Aston Martin and helped tennis star Annabel Croft raise money in memory of Princess Diana.

Her high-octane flash mob Fashion on the Move show will see top models showcasing the very latest trends and styles.

Among the stores taking part will be River Island Topshop, and BHS featuring Wallis and Dorothy Perkins.

Sally said: “The roaming fashion show has a great cast of models and performers, who will burst into dance on the hour showcasing the latest looks available in the mall.

“Each set has a story so there’s a narrative with each style and we’ll perform in front of each of the stores where the outfits are available.

“It’s all great fun and the idea is that the audience will be inspired to buy the clothes they’ve seen.”

“It is a really good chance for shoppers to also gain fashion advice and they are more than welcome to approach me and ask about styles and shapes which suit them.”

There will be high impact dance and fashion shows on the hour from 11 am at the event on Saturday April 30, with offers and discounts for shoppers to take advantage of, on the day.

Church Square Shopping Centre manager Steven Brogan said: “Fashion on the Move is going to create a real buzz about the place and if you like fashion and care about the latest trends for summer, then you won’t be disappointed.

“We are really looking forward to having a top fashion expert like Sally at the centre who has so much experience in the industry.

“It is a fantastic opportunity to get some free fashion advice from one of the best stylists in the country.”

Highlighting the styles available at the St Helens mall for the coming months, Sally predicts spring and summer trends will feature a flash for flesh, with cut-off shoulders or sections of tops, while bead and trim embellishments will be everywhere.

She added: “Bold, graphic stripes will be popular, especially in primary colours, but at the same time, floral wallpaper-style fabrics are coming through alongside chunky, angular jewellery pieces.

“I think ankle straps on shoes are making a comeback, while skinny jeans are being left behind in a return to more structured denims.”

Sally started modelling straight from school and during her 30-year career has worked fashion shows and photo shoots. She now runs her own business, The Fashion Show Company.

She said: “I’ve been involved in some fabulous, glamorous shows – I was asked to co-host the party for the premiere of The Perfect Storm starring George Clooney and Mark Wahlberg in Birmingham.

“That was very star-studded – actual Hollywood legends and loads of soap stars and footballers and luckily George was not a let-down in the slightest. He was as lovely and tall and beautiful as I thought he would be!”

Mum-of-two Sally, 50, also joined forces with tennis star Annabel Croft to organise a fundraising fashion show after Princess Diana died and gradually became an expert in putting on the events as well as starring in them.

“People started asking me to do their shows for them so after a while I decided to launch my own business running the events themselves from 2001,” she said.

Sally previously modelled for designer Caroline Charles and spent 17 years showing off wedding dresses for Hayley J Couture, and now specialises in flash mob fashion shows that bring a burst of music and dance to the unsuspecting public.

She said: “I’ve done a lot of work with shopping centres and the arrival of the flash mobs has been great for those places that don’t have a big central stage area as we don’t need somewhere like that.

“It’s very engaging for the shoppers and it’s fun and fast and lively. We’ve got a great team together and the event at Church Square is going to be great.”

Church Square Shopping Centre is open daily and home to a range of big name stores – such as H&M, Fat Face, River Island, BHS, Boots and Superdrug – along with independent retailers plus the busy St Mary’s Market.
