The Kindfulness Coffee Club

The Kindfulness Coffee Club (KCC) is a Sefton-based café that cares 7 days a week.

Whether it’s for a coffee and a bacon butty or just a quick chat there’s always somebody around to talk to.

KCC is a cafe and second hand clothing shop that is passionate about giving people a safe space and a place to unwind. It offers a warm environment for everybody, from those who have lost their children to social services to people who suffer from mental health.

The café also follows a simple model that means if two people want to try something and form a group; it will support them in facilitating this.

Activities take place throughout the week from gardening to arts and crafts, bereavement support groups, budgeting advice and mindfulness sessions.

Located on Knowsley Road in Bootle, KCC helps people to make connections and develop emotional resistance one cup at a time.

KCC doesn’t distinguish between mental health and physical health, instead following the understanding that everybody can have fluctuating levels of wellness and call all make steps to improve our lives and the lives of others.

The work that the cafe does is brilliantly different and progressive.  All too often people don’t access the services they so need because they are put off by the formality of statutory and other services.

The cafe offers a friendly, unassuming environment where customers can come in and build trust and rapport with staff and volunteers on their terms; they also find great friendships with other customers which is supportive in itself.

Staff work with people’s strengths and aren’t pushy or patronising. Their approach is to be inclusive and supportive, helping people on their terms. They change lives, all whilst providing affordable food and drink for all at the café.

Pop in and have a brew at 164 Knowsley Road, Bootle.

Kindfulness Coffee Club is supporting the ‘30 Days of Sefton In Mind’ Campaign – to spread the word about local services and activities available to people in Sefton to improve their mental health.
