West Lancashire College have recently launched a range of fabulous new courses and opportunities and are inviting you to take a fresh look at what they have to offer at their forthcoming Open Event on Wednesday 14 November, 5pm-8pm, College Way, Skelmersdale WN8 6LH.
You can view the great facilities at the both the college’s £42.8m main campus and newly opened £2.5m Construction, Engineering & Logistics Centre, plus find out more about the new BTEC Combinations programme plus other new initiatives.
On the night, you can find out more about unique specialist provision in medicine – The School of Medicine A Level programme, opening in September 2019. Delivered in partnership with leading employers from the health and medical sector and some of the top UK University Medical Schools, the two-year programme offers much more than standard A Levels and gives those wishing to progress to medical school as an undergraduate a distinct competitive edge.
Plus on the night, fresh from the BBC’s Dragons’ Den, the college are delighted to host Operating Theatre Live who will be performing their Autopsy Live experience.
You can also find out more the newly launched Health Careers Academy and Logistics Careers Academy, delivered in partnership with local employers and universities. The Careers Academies equip students with the skills and experience needed to gain employment or access to university including a comprehensive Discovery Work Experience Project.
The College offers courses for School Leavers, for Adults, for those in employment, who would like to progress or change career path, a wide range of courses for pleasure plus a range of HNC and foundation degrees.
Spotlights on the night include; develop your CV to get Apprenticeship job ready, have a go at brickwork and joinery, Dragon’s Den live Autopsy, Lash effects, Christmas party make-up and hair demonstrations, professional cookery demonstrations, Sports rehabilitation and Inversion table, Medical Mavericks have a go at ultrasound, ECG, Keyhole surgery, infrared vein scanning and retina scanning.
