Two Lancashire libraries will host a professional live music performance in November.
Aidan Jolly, supported by artists Gigi Serafina and Jaydev Mistry, will perform songs written to acknowledge local communities and to celebrate the idea of a sense of place. Each song will tell a story that has been inspired by a specific location in the country.
The performances will take place at Clayton Green Library on Thursday 15 November and Longridge Library on Friday 16 November. Both concerts will start at 7pm.
Called ‘1,000 Places’, the performance has been organised by the rural touring scheme, Spot On, with the support of library staff.
These concerts are the first time that all of the songs have been performed together. Aidan will sing and play a variety of instruments, including guitar and melodeon. Gigi will sing and play the piano, accordion, flute and violin. Jaydev will mainly play percussion and guitar.
County Councillor Peter Buckley, Lancashire County Council’s cabinet member for community and cultural services, said: “We’ve worked with Spot On for many years, bringing professional music, theatre and dance performances to venues across Lancashire.
“We are able to promote professional events and encourage new people to enjoy cultural activities near to where they live, through our work with Spot On.
“This concert looks very interesting. Aidan, Gigi and Javdev are each talented musicians in their own right. The concert should be even more appealing as the songs they perform are about celebrating local communities.”
Spot On and Cheshire Rural Touring Arts were awarded more than £203,000 by Arts Council England to deliver projects over three years across Lancashire and Cheshire. Lancashire received 74% of this funding.
This builds on 20 years of work by Spot On and Cheshire Rural Touring Arts (CRTA), working across rural areas to host high quality arts events in communities where people live.
Tickets cost £8 and are available by visiting www.spotonlancashire.co.uk/whats-on/1000-places.
