Skem Men-Aces Carl Eaton has taken on a challenge which most people would not even contemplate; Carl is set to tackle the Manchester Marathon! While it may be said that a lot of people take part in marathons and it can be described as ‘just a long run’, the difference is that with Carl Eaton is that he is taking on this challenge from his wheelchair. Carl was born with Spina Bifida but he has not let this hold him back.

Carl is the man behind the success that is the Skem Men-Aces football team. Skem Men-Aces were formed in 2009 due to a lack of a football team for adults with a learning disability to play on in the local area. The team quickly took off from a small group of players having a kick-about and using jumpers for goalposts, into a club that now boasts more than 50 members and countless trophies, including a silver medal at the 2013 Special Olympics!

Carl has decided to take on the challenge of completing the Manchester Marathon, which takes place on Sunday 2nd April 2017, to try and raise funds to take all of the players from Skem Men-Aces on a holiday of a lifetime. Carl has set up a funding page for donations to help him to achieve his aim of raising the money to take his bunch of trophy laden sporting stars on a holiday which they will not forget!
