Skelmersdale Police take action following reports of disruption caused by scrambler and quad bikes

Today, (Sunday 8 April 2018), Skelmersdale Police received numerous reports from the public concerning large groups of scrambler and quad bikes causing disruption on the roads around Skelmersdale and Ormskirk.

These reports ranged from groups of bikes travelling along both lanes of the road; riding the wrong way down dual carriage ways; riding without helmets and other driving offences.

A number of police patrols were deployed to the area and due to the proactive work by immediate response, neighbourhood, motorway officers and the assistance of the force helicopter a total of 6 persons have been arrested for handling stolen goods and theft, with 13 scrambler bikes seized and at this time 5 being confirmed as stolen.

Lancashire police will continue to take action against these individuals.
