Another Place Exhibition Launches

A fantastic new exhibition to celebrate the tenth anniversary of Another Place on Crosby Beach is being hosted at Crosby Lakeside.

The exhibition, which will run until Sunday, November 1, aims to tell the story of the Iron Men from their arrival on the beach to their current status as adopted members of the local community

The show also includes many unknown facts about the installation and is brought to life through the images of acclaimed Crosby-based photographer Ron Davies.

Representatives from Sefton Council recently attended the launch of the event along with Ron Davies and Cate Murphy of Regenerus, formerly known as South Sefton Development Trust, who organised the exhibition with the help of the Arts Council.

Cllr Ian Moncur, Cabinet Member for Health and Wellbeing, said: “It is quite unbelievable that 10 years has passed since Another Place first came to Crosby Beach and it is now such an intrinsic part of Sefton and the coast line.

“The exhibition is fantastic and I would urge all residents and visitors to take the time to pop along to Crosby Lakeside to learn more about the story behind these iconic figures.”

Cate Murphy commented: “Since day one in Crosby the Iron Men have been incredibly popular, and we feel this exhibition is a great way for local residents and visitors alike to celebrate the tenth anniversary of these iconic sculptures.”

Thanks to Arts Council funding, several other celebration projects are also currently in progress in south Sefton, from a mosaic produced by local people to a new film on the theme of a day in the life of one of the Iron Men.

Ten Years of Another Place is open 9am-5pm daily.
