When Shauna Horrobin gave birth to a baby girl last month, she also gained a fiancé.
Shauna and Jordan Gaskell from Norley Hall, Wigan, welcomed their new daughter, Lottie Melissa, on Friday 26th October at Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust.
The couple, who have been friends for over twelve years and got together a year ago, both have children of their own, Jayden, seven, Frankie, five, and two-year-old Freya , but Lottie is their first child together.
As Shauna suffered life threatening injuries giving birth to her two previous children, having Lottie was a risk, so Jordan thought it was a perfect opportunity to propose, as he thought it was the right time for them both.
Shortly after Lottie was delivered by Caesarean Section, the midwives at Wigan’s Royal Albert Edward Infirmary, dressed her up in a very special baby vest saying; “Mummy will you marry my Daddy?”
Jordan then got down on one knee and presented a white gold diamond engagement ring, whilst the midwives unveiled Lottie’s baby vest.
Shauna, who was still lying down on the operating table, was overwhelmed to the point of tears and, of course, said yes!
Midwives at WWL’s maternity ward had never experienced anything like Jordan’s proposal.
Mary Thomas, Registered Midwife, said: “The whole midwifery team was really excited.
“It was a lovely experience, only to be topped off by the birth of a beautiful baby girl”.
