Motorcyclist, 17, dies after falling from bike

A young motorcyclist has died following a collision in Chorley last night (Monday, April 9th).

The incident happened at around 7.20pm as the 17-year-old boy was travelling from Chorley Town Centre towards Rivington on his motorcycle.

As he has approached the Cowling Brow junction with Crosse Hall Street, he has somehow come off the bike and hit a lamp post.

He was taken to Royal Preston Hospital where he sadly later died from his injuries.

Officers are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident or moments leading up to it to come forward.

Sgt Adam Pearson from the Road Policing Unit said: “Firstly I would like to send my sincere condolences to the boy’s family at this incredibly sad and difficult time.

“We are investigating the cause of this tragic collision and so if you saw anything that you think could help us with our inquiries please make contact.”
