A man has been left in a critical condition following a collision in Ashton-in-Makerfield.

Shortly before 8pm on Saturday 30 December 2017, police were called to reports of a collision on Bolton Road near the junction with Edward Drive.

A blue Volkswagen Jetta had been travelling along Bolton Road towards Platt Bridge.

At the same time, a 56-year-old man had been walking along the road. As he crossed Bolton Road he was involved in a collision with the car.

He was taken to hospital for treatment where he remains in a critical condition.

Police Constable Philip Shaw of GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “My thoughts are with this man’s family as he recovers from some very serious injuries.

“It’s a memorable time of year, so if you were travelling around that area on Saturday night and saw either the car or the man, please get in touch.

“We’re also asking anyone who was driving in the area at the time with dash-cam footage to send this into our team and help with this investigation.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 0161 856 4741 or 101, quoting incident number 1657 of 30/12/17. Reports can also be made anonymously through the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
